If you knew me in middle school and high school you probably remember the girl who missed a lot of school and had to have a special chair and desk in class. That’s right I was that girl that didn’t quite fit in because I was really sick. There was one year during this time that I missed 1/3 of the year of school. I went to specialists at Sister Kenney Institute in Minneapolis and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I spent years in physical therapy trying to help the pain. I struggled to get up and stay awake because I was always tired. I was also sick more then most. I also suffered from the dreaded “teenage” pimples so I saw a dermatologist who put me on Tetracycline. This antibiotic wasn’t important in my mind until recently. You see… at 16 I started to feel better. My thoughts at the time was that I just learned to deal with the Fibromyalgia. Looking back now I think that this antibiotic is what helped me with the Lyme that I had. I really think that I have had Lyme disease since I was about 12 years old and it was misdiagnosed as Fibromyalgia. That is 25 years of Lyme disease going undiagnosed!
